How you reduce downtime and save money. Starting torque and current inrush are directly related to the voltage applied when you start the motor. By reducing the line voltage when starting, reversing or changing speeds and then increasing it to full voltage, inrush is reduced. And so are the high impact starts that cause you problems. With the Reuland RTC unit in the motor circuit, and the proper time and starting torque adjustment, this initial torque setting is applied at each start or reversal. The time adjustment controls the linear rate of increase, from the initial torque setting voltage to full line voltage for the optimum acceleration. This way, initial current inrush can be reduced by as much as 50%. So where you have peak demand charges, you can apply the RTC, and help lower these charges.
This all translates to smoother equipment operation because acceleration is stepless. And to reduced down- time. Because motors don't burn out as often. And to lower maintenance, repair and replacements. Because gears and belts aren't destroyed by stress from across-the-line starts. Yes, we'll meet your special requirements. Many of your applications are not standard. The RTC is adaptable. It's solid state. It's enclosure is cast aluminum. But it's also available in an open panel mount. It is designed to be used with three phase induction motors, from _ to 40 hp.
Depending on the motor load, the motor can be brought up to speed in two to 20 seconds. Extended times are available through modification. Options. Controlled Stop.* This provides electronic DC braking for high inertia loads.
The package offers electronic adjustable starting torque and acceleration as well as electronic adjustable braking torque to the motor. Note: if the duty cycle is greater than five starts and stops per minute, use the next size control.
Multispeed. This is used with multispeed motors or applications requiring stepless speed changes. Different degrees of starting and/or speed transitions can be achieved smoothly.
Space Heater. For cold ambient conditions, a thermostat controlled heater can be added to extend the lower ambient temperature limit to -20§C (-4§F). The heater requires a 120 VAC, 76 watt supply source. Proper warm-up will be approximately five to ten minutes.
Enclosures. Severe industrial applications require protection against dust, rain, splashing water, wash down and corrosion. These conditions are classified NEMA 4, 4X or 12 and can be met by modifying the RTC enclosure. The 200, 300, 400 and 500 sizes are supplied with corrosion treatment and gasket.
Modifications: Soft Deceleration. With high frictional loads, the driven load stops too quickly when power is removed. Through this circuitry, the load is gradually decelerated, driving the load to a smooth stop at an adjustable rate. Extended Ramp Time. Acceleration time depends on motor-load characteristics. Consideration must be given to the external components involved such as motor, overloads, etc. Consult the factory with customer specifications for applications requiring this modification.
